Welcome to Three Dog Farm!
Three Dog Farm is a small, scrap of land in central Massachusetts where I raise a Icelandic sheep for wool production. I go by the blog handle Rooster and also by Ally. By day I teach biology and by every-other-waking-breathing-minute I take care of all the critters here on the farm. Yes, folks, this is merely a hobby! The toughest hobby you'll ever love...
The Wool
Besides eggs and poultry for personal use, wool is the main product at Three Dog Farm. In other words, only the sheep earn their keep! My flock is small, but the color variety is grand. All of my wool is 100% Icelandic in all natural colorways.
Still River Mill in Connecticut processes my wool for me and they do a wonderful job. Icelandics are typically shorn twice a year so I'll have new wool in the shop in January (the fall fleeces) and June (the spring fleeces). I have at least a few lambs every Fall shearing, which makes the softest Lopi (Icelandic yarn) ever, so be sure to buy yours fast! Click on the Rooster's Blog tab to see what's happening on the farm and of course click on the Shop tab to get your Three Dog Wool!
